Module SIM 808 doesn´t turn on

I recently bought a module sim 808 and I need to do a project with it.
The problem here is that when I press the powerbutton the second led is not powering on, the first led from the power supply is lit, only the second led is not powering on, no matter how many seconds I pressed the power button.

I am powering the module with a 9V battery but I don´t know the amperage, I don´t know if this is the reason of why is not powering on.

That battery won't cut it.

Most modem's use significant current. Try powering via USB.

From the datasheet for the SIM808.
"The transmitting burst will cause voltage drop and the power supply must be able to provide sufficient current up to 2A."

Unfortunately I have no way to power the module via USB

I really don't want to damage the module so I want to be very careful with it and I have a question.

What is the range of voltage I can apply to the module without damaging it?

Got a link to the datasheet for it? Or the model number? or a link to the place you bought it from?

My module model is EVB-V3.2, but I only have the datasheet of V1.2: SIM808_Hardware_Design_V1.02.pdf - Google Drive

And I bought it from this place: https://articulo.mercadolibre.com.mx/MLM-836558032-modulo-sim808-gsm-gprs-gps-con-antena-gps-_JM

Btw by reading from the site I bought it, it says that the power jack can handle 5-26V

from what I can find looks like it has the following specs...

High efficient LDO power supply, the input voltage is 5--26V. note to the that when the input voltage is less than 9V. Please ensure that the power supply can provide 2a of the current. another power supply port 3.5--4.2V input (suitable for lithium battery power supply).

What do you have other than the 9v battery?

Besides the 9V battery, what I can use with the jack port is my laptop charger

Should I try with this charger?

Also I have tons of chargers but only from USB to microUSB

Yes I believe based on the specs of the voltage regulator (MIC 29302) it should work ok.

My bad, the connector of my charger is not the same as a conventional jack :man_facepalming:

Well, tomorrow I'll try to get this to test it with my other chargers

Btw thanks for your help

It seems that the problem was with the battery, I bought a new battery and now when I press the power button, the second led now is powering on

Just be aware that it won't last long. An alkaline 9v battery can deliver about 500mAh... and that device can pull 2000 mA ... so you should look for something with a bigger capacity.

Yes I am aware of that but this is only a temporary solution until I get an AC adapter
