Motor Shield with Wemos D1 Mini

Hello everyone!
I am currently putting together a project to control stepper motors, but I want to manage it from the Wemos D1 Mini board.
The shield motor I have is 4 L293D motors (attached image).
Also attached is a picture of the Wemos D1 mini board I have.

I don't know how to make the connections or if I need something else.
Has anyone done something similar?

Not the best choice of shield as it is designed for the UNO.

There is a shield for the NODE MCU LUA series ESP's.
Not sure the D1 MINI has enough outputs to drive 4 steppers which are different from regular motors.

You may have to re-think this project with a different main board.
