MPU6050 connection failing

Hi all, this is my first post here, but I am having problems with my MPU6050. It begins running the program, and will consistently either not get past initialising or will fail the connection and just start throwing heaps of 0's.
My connections are as follows:

  • VCC to 5V
  • GND to GND (next to 5V)
  • SCL to A5
  • SDA to A4

I have also tried the example code, but it doesn't throw anything out either. I am using a breadboard and have been trying to ensure two wires don't touch eachother when running.

Any help will be appriciated.

You didn't mention which board you're using.

You didn't mention which MPU6050 breakout you're using. Does it have pullups? Does it have level shifters if you're using a 5V board?

You didn't show your code. There could be a problem there, but no one can tell because we can't see it.

You didn't show pictures of your setup. There could be something wrong there that would be obvious in a picture. You could, for example, have failed to solder headers to the MPU6050 breakout. Whatever board you're using might need headers and they too might not be soldered. Your breadboard might have split power rails. All things that would be obvious in a well lit, clear, in focus picture or two.

Once you remedy all these oversights, it's quite likely that someone may be able to help you out.

Hi, @burntash73
Welcome to the forum.

Thanks.... Tom.... :+1: :coffee: :australia:

That sounds like a simple circuit but is it? Post an annotated schematic showing all connections, power, grounds and power sources as you have wired it.

Post links to the technical information on each of the hardware devices.
