Am new to Nano 33 IoT and first time trying to make a 'Thing'. I got the Nano 33 IoT from the official site but am not able to connect to the Windows 10 PC. The green led is steady and orange is blinking but the online IDE is not able to detect it. Also am not sure how the installed program on PC connects to the device. Anyways, after reading some of the comments on this forum, I feel like I do not have the right cable or the one I have is faulty? Can someone please share the link to USB cable that I can buy? Thanks in advance and sorry if this question belongs to some other category.
Please provide more details about the problem.
That is definitely a possible cause of this type of problem.
Any cable from a reputable brand name (and even many cheapo generic ones for that matter) will work fine. You can just go find one from whatever source is convenient to you, whether that is a physical store or an online store.
You just need to make sure it is not a "charging" cable. These cables supply power (thus LEDs lit up on your board), but no data connection (thus board not detected).
Unfortunately, some of the bottom of the barrel online sellers don't specify the type of cables they are selling. Other times, it is specified, but it is just not very clear. And some people just happen to have a charge only cable on hand already that came with a device and was never intended to provide a data connection in that usage.
If you want a specific link, I can give you this one:
Use a good quality data USB cable (do not use a USB hub or USB 3.0 port).
