Nano not reading correctly

Frist time Arduino user, purchased a nano board for a project https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006773519913.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.28.6c861802Qfk3mo

and i got the

avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding
avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 1 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x11

Doing some trouble shooting i think i may found the issue? a port issue? my pc not reading the board properly? When i plug the board in it shows up in Other Devices/Usb Serial Port and not in Ports (COM & LPT), and when i plug it in and out it does not add or remove a port in the Arduino program. And now im at a dead end

I tried various thing, all the program loader options and tried installing the CH340 drivers and that seemed to do nothing and cant seem to find anything about this.

Show us the back side, as well, please. I'm curious what you've wired to it.

dont judge my soldering to harshly :P

As I suspected, you've already got some form of circuit attached; how do you know(I think you don't) that that circuit isn't preventing the Arduino from working?
Show us a pencil sketch schematic of what you have wired up, so that we may be reassured that you've got hope of it working at all.
Also, your picture of the top of the Arduino is way too blurry - is there printing on the 32-pin chip at the center of the board, and if so, what does it say?

Try all the processor options

However since you have done a lot of 'things' without knowing the consequences you may be out of luck.

@sonofcy
If the board is not showing up as a usb port in the device manager, how is this a useful exercise.

i dont believe it has anything to do with whats connected? I have another board with nothing attached to it and still the same problem. but just in case all i have connected to it are 4 pots, each left pin daisy chained together connected to the ground port on the board, each right pin chained together connected to the 5v on the board and each center pin connected to a1 to 4, The print on the chip is blurry af, i cant even make out what it says\

I do for the pots.
Solder should only be on the pins or lugs of the pots.
The pot gets unreliable the moment the solder flows onto the rivets of the carbon track.
Expect jumping A/D values when that has happened.
Leo..

ill worry about that if i an get my board to work

Good point!

Sorry, had you shared that? No, you hadn't. My crystal ball is in the shop. It tells us you may actually have a common installation problem, not a wiring problem. If so, you may find some answers in the Uploading section of this forum:

hi, my problems started when i got the

avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding
avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 1 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x11

troubleshooting some stuff i figured it must be cause it wont show up in device manager

When i plug the board in it shows up in Other Devices/Usb Serial Port and not in Ports (COM & LPT), and when i plug it in and out it does not add or remove a port in the Arduino IDE. And now im at a dead end

the board i use

i have another of the exact same board with no wires attached to it, same issue, i assume the problem lies with mu pc or the board somewhere but i dont know where to look

Is this the first time you use these boards?

Can you show a picture of the other side? (to identify if the USB-Serial chip is a CH340).

Are you sure your USB-C cable is a data cable?

Hello derringer14,

I have a 3rd party Nano, and I fixed your first error by changing the bootloader to the AtMega Old bootloader. Does Windows give a notification saying "The device that was plugged in wasn't recognized and may be broken"?

my frist time using any board, my first project ever, and yeah i tried to rule the usb out, i tried every usb cable i own in the just in case and nada. One trouble shoot i tried was installing the CH340 drivers and that did t seem to do anything

i do not get this at all

Did you use this selection?

yes i tried all 3 of those options and nothing, i didnt receive the “The device that was plugged in wasn't recognized and may be broken" i believe my problem lies in reading/recognizing the board. i could be wrong im pretty new to this sort of stuff but that what my poking around tells me

Well, by your picture, I can see that the CH340 chip has no label. It can be unfortunately a dud board.

The diamond shaped chip on the board is a 328P?

Some guys were able to ressurrect their Nanos by doing a rollback version on the CH340 driver.

Take a look in thread below:

Serial monitor is closed while trying to upload the sketch, right?

Also post #5 on This Thread shows how to do the rollback process.

I have merged your cross-posts @derringer14.
