Newbie Looking to get "Certified" and "Licensed" Badge

Hi Guys,
I'm new to this forum but i would by no means say that i'm new to Electronics or I.T.
Been doing electronics since i was 4 (early 70s) and i'm an I.T. Engineer of a few decades.
I'm here because i figured..... hey why not join the community

My Problem :
I'm looking to get 2 badges since i'm new here.
"Certified Badge" and "Licensed Badge"

I've gone through all the startup stuff, setup up my profile, read the T's and C's ,
Read the guidelines and searched few posts on best practices and how to get the most out of this forum.

Obviously i went to the badges section and clicked firstly on the "Certified" section.
it tells me
"Completed our new user tutorial"
but i can't see the tick. i just get taken to a page where there are other users that have completed this tutorial apparently but i can't find the actual tutorial

and same thing for the "Licensed"
Completed our advanced user tutorial
can't find this either. I've done a site search and haven't found much on it

Can someone point me in the direction of
The new User Tutorial and
The Advanced User Tutorial
that i need to complete in order to obtain these badges

Thanks in Advance

are you talking about their certification exam?

or may be this

(you should not worry about that unless it's for personal satisfaction, nobody will check your credentials  )

I think the forum “bot” will give you the opportunity to go through the process, Send a message to @discobot

LOL, Fair enough
and i suppose that explains why there are no posts on it .
i was under the understanding that i could complete these courses so as to do the right thing by the forum

and now that you've told me you don't really know where to do the course
you've now made me want to know it more
Perhaps a mod could answer this, i don't know

Yes the forumbot has been sending me a few things but none of them have been this.
it's weird that i can't just go into it huh
especially since they are saying this their New User Tutorial.
one would think there would be a big fat red button that says New User Tutorial

it sounds like i probably am talking about the exam.

it is for personal satisfaction, but then.. what on this forum isn't .
Thanks for your reply[quote="J-M-L, post:2, topic:1151277, full:true"]

You're welcome
i'm new to THIS forum, i'm not new to forums or Electronics though.
Appreciate your response

Ohh i see
i followed the exam link, apparently it's a link to an arduino certification.

i have to say that's not exactly "New User Certification"
it's more like C++ Arduino Programming Basics Certification

Ok, i see,
thanks guy for your help, i will get around to doing that although not just yet,
i thought i needed it as a condition of levelling up on the site.

Appreciate the help
i deem this problem now solved

Not as such, but new users are presented with a suggestion to read one that is provided as part of the on-boarding process, or skip. Guess what most new users do.

The document doesn't dwell on badges, because they are not essential to the proper use of the forum, and the improper uses of the forum are plentiful and routine, the main purpose of the introductory guides is to mitigate those problems.

Judging by the number of badly presented initial topics by new users I would guess that many of them click on the link but don't read most of what is presented

that's correct and i did read that.
and yes i can imagine what newbies do

so i suppose what i have learned from this.. it's a course in C++ Basics with attention to Arduino sketches and structure.

I'm new here , but i would assume that's correct.
that's what happens on Stack Exchange so why not here

An honest attempt was made to make independant learning materials available in the tutorials and examples (imperfect as they may be), I suppose as it is expected that both individuals and students in third party courses (i.e. not provided by Arduino) would be able to self-learn. Certification, I guess mainly to show an employer or client?

I haven't seen anything about the course, so reserve judgement, but at least I can say, if your only goal is to acquire the skills, it is far from the only place where you can do that.

No my only goal is not to acquire the skills, I've been doing Arduino and ESP32 for 3 years now, but i am interested to know what's in that specific course

The Arduino Certification exam costs $30 to get a code to take the online test. I wonder what it covers? Ooh there's a demo:

https://certifications.arduino.cc/demo
It's reading friziting diagrams, and I failed.

I'm not one that doesn't like paying for things, i'll happily pay it if it's justified.
However i've already paid elsewhere for a fully loaded C++ course and a few others so i reckon i won't fork out the $30 but i will certainly try the demo

I just saw those question
i got them correct, they're not that hard
but hey, aren't we off topic right now

has this bit:

@discobot start {name-of-tutorial} Starts an interactive tutorial just for you, in a personal message. {name-of-tutorial} can be one of: tutorial, advanced tutorial.

To earn the badges, start a direct message to discobot, and then in the body of the message post that command and follow along with the directions in the replies
