I am using a 5v to 24v optocoupler to boost my pulse signal to 24v and out put it to a plc using an optocoupler. the coupler is receiving the signal fine but on the output signal its a constant voltage no drop like the incoming side when the pulse hits high and low on the sensor and just keeping a solid signal to the plc. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Only a schematic will help you get help. Does your optocoupler invert the "signal"?
link?
When you say you are using an optocoupler, then everyone assumes you are using an optocoupler. BUT! You are using a module that among other components has an optocoupler. There is a world of difference! The module also has a transistor to re-invert the original signal.
Thank You for your reply. I am a little new to using these, Is there a better direct module the is an optocoupler only without all the add ins?
The module you are using will work just fine. Be sure to NOT! connect the 24 volt ground to the Arduino ground, or you eliminate the isolation you were wanting to have.
I tried wiring it pnp>pnp where the ground on the 24v side is eliminated and the vcc and signal out are switched but still having the same problem with a constant voltage on the signal out even when the led actuates on the isolation switch.
That optocoupler is a very poor design. It will never work with 24V and I not sure it would even work with 5V
Try inserting a 68K resistor in the +24V line to the module
