Also a really good advice regarding the power trace Thank you,I just changed it!
I'll design the main PCB asap and upload a picture of it and also of the connections between all of them.
I would make the power track thicker, they don't charge more for thicker tracks!
Would I be out of order asking about Vincent? (Don't reply if you don't want to).
@LarryD
Oh, you are so right. I just changed it.
I also made the power rail thicker, as @PerryBebbington suggested.
@PerryBebbington
Haha, of course not! I'm glad you asked. He is a great friend of mine. We studied Sound and Music Production together and both share the love of music, synths and everything related to audio. He is a greatly talented producer and teacher and also the only person I've ever met (besides my girlfriend) who became pretty much a part of my family.
Olean is his producer alias, hence the name Olean 32 (32 knobs).
He is going to use it mainly to map his soft synthesizers to the controller but also for mixing/mastering for which he plans to prepare different racks, pre-mapped to this controller.
You can check him out if you want to: https://www.youtube.com/@OleansHouse
Thank you for the story behind the board, that's the kind of thing I love about this forum and which keeps me interested
Here are also some pictures from earlier stages.
The huge cable mess is also the reason why I decided to make proper PCBs and have a neat cable management
Have you investigated the cost of PCBs to mount the pots on, without the wiring? I suspect it would not be outrageous.
@LarryD thank you for the advice! I didn't plan any labeling for this one but it's a great resource for future projects!
I also fixed the trace you've mentioned.
@PerryBebbington
Not yet! I thought it's easier to troubleshoot this way though, instead of having the big PCBs with the pots directly mounted.
Similar, just tweaked it a bit.
Is that Stainless Steel ?
Yes, it is.
Iβve made a few SS panels in the past, some with square holes.
Not fun !
Watch this video:
To be honest, I'm pretty lucky because I know a guy who is an audio hardware master and he told me to make a freecad layout for the front panel and we can punch it together in a huge factory. So after I did the layout it was done by the machine in like three seconds.
Thatβs oh so cheating !
For the next project, I'll even mine aluminium ore just to keep it real!
Hello! I'm back with the main module. What is your opinion in this one? Do I need a ground plane in this case? I'll upload the connection between main module and the mux modules soon!
