I found this little joystick, no markings except what seems to be SS. How do I connect this to arduino? It has a total of 8 pins (dual I guess?) with 2 pins of to the side
Hook up a multimeter and start tinkering
I don't believe that is a joystick.
I do believe it is likely a 2 pole, 3 throw selector switch.
But yes, as @J-M-L said, hook up a multimeter and start probing.
It is spring loaded and self centering, I'll dig out the multimeter and start exploring.
After some googling I found this, not sure if it shorts the pins but I'll find out soon.
To give this some context I am in the process of building myself a button box for simulator games, I am trying to determine what controls will be buttons, latches, switches and joysticks.
In my rummaging through the box of buttons this little guy was hiding at the bottom. Most likely a survivor from some salvage binge at some point.
I easily get sidetracked on things like this
edit
Yes the pinout on the image was correct as the middle and end pin short at full lever, at half pull the middle and next pin short.
Thank you for your input and giving me the nudge I needed to settle this itching question.
