I'm running 1.8.5 (installed) in parallel with a zip install of RC2.
Some oberservations
- Splash screen on top of every open program; highly annoying.
- Autoformat seems extremely slow or not always working, even on a small sketch of 40 lines it can take 10 seconds or more without visible changes. I often think that it does not work and press
<ctrl>T again after which it's there. - The additional board urls (file -> preferences) are not populated (they are in 1.8.5) but the boards are there (e.g. Uno Wifi Rev2 and Sparkfun boards). I'm not sure how it's supposed to work, does it just look in appdata for additional boards?
- Enabling verbose output during compilation does not always give the desired effect; it just does not show the verbose output. I haven't figured out yet exactly what makes it behave as expected (might be by starting 1.8.5 first) but currently it is as expected on my system.
Question:
Is there support for a protable install? Or not yet.
