hi guys . I'm super new to this but I'm pretty desperate for help.
I've bought a hp designjet z2600 printer. I just got rick rolled when i had to buy ink.
It cost me all my business start up money that i had saved and i still haven't seen one print. I've gone through all the chip coding options and this particular chip seems to be a real pest to crack. My question to you , is instead of trying to re-write the data on the chip . can i use my arduino as a chip to communicate with the printer.
sorry if I sound stupid but i am . Can you intercept the transfer of data from the printer to the chip and manipulate the data during transfer? or just load the chip data onto the arduino and make a cable to go from the chip slot in the printer, to the arduino board instead of the ink cartridge chip?. is this possible ?
I don't understand what you are talking about. Perhaps if you rephrased using proper technical wording it would help.
You mention a printer but then you mention 'chip coding options'. What has that to do with a printer? What do you mean by 'this particular chip'? After that it gets worse.
the ink cartridge uses a eeprom chip to tell the printer the ink status. its also, so you cant refill them and keep using them. what I meant was, I have been searching through forums and the net for anyone who has done a data dump on a new chip and written the data into a old chip to reset it to full and new status, but the original chips from hp witch are installed on the hp ink cartridges, are way to hard to do a data dump and rewrite onto because of the security measures they put into the chip. each chip has a unique id that the printer stores in its memory so you cant do this. Even after a hard reset. Also cant find any info on the make and model on the chip to obtain a address . I have a couple of new clone chips on their way from china , witch will be easier to clone. but if i used my arduino as a chip, I could just load up the data onto it, as if my arduino is a printer cartridge chip itself, telling the printer that the ink is good and full.
Actually I'm over it bro. don't even sweat it . wasted more money ,more time and literally over it all . just gonna save up and start again. i think this stuff is for hobby guys not rely serious dudes.
You need to read the rules, illegal activity is not allowed.
I see this in the HP ad: * Color images: Print speed up to 469 ft²/hr (43 m²/hr)
- HP Thermal Inkjet; 6 ink system
- One roll sheet feed, cut sheet feeder, 160 GB HDD, touchscreen display.
So the inkjet is also heated ink, not the usual type of ink. Where will you find ink to refill those 6 different cartridges?
Since a set of refills from HP is about a grand, I can understand why you want to do this but I don't know how.
That high-end of a printer is unlikely to get the attention of any of the usual companies that market 3rd-party ink cartridges, so I doubt anyone has done much work on reverse-engineering the cartridge chips. You also need to be wary of voiding the warranty on the printer, a major concern for something that expensive.
Think we have a similar situation in an other thread.
Many years ago I was trained by HP for service on HP printers and laptops. The model they base there revenue on is selling supplies to the equipment they sell. Much like hacking Bosch HP is in same boat they design there equipment to work with HP stuff.
You can try but you would do better if you sold the printer and bought one with out proprietary replacement parts.
hp got sued and have to offer a refillable option . so you need to read the laws and don't accuse people of illegal activity.
i got a few liters of ink from ebay to refill my cartridges. from hp the ink is $2700 but the same amount from ebay is $100.
it cost me $900 for new print heads and its gonna cost $2700 for a full set of ink. but ive got cartridges that fit in the printer but wont work because of the chip.
once you install a third party cartridge your warranty from hp is over. they are so hard there customers. im not trying to scam them, i just want a fair go when trying to start a business .
yeah i realized this after i bought the printer, i still haven't seen it print and ive spent all my money on it. this is why im so frustrated . ive got some clone chips on their way from china , as well as a couple new ink cartridges. chinese new year is slowing down the postage so, il probly get them around the 30th of this month. i want to copy the chips and copy the data to empty chips that i can buy online.
You need to obtain a credit line from your local bank.
I would just bite the bullet the first time around.
Will you pass the saving on to the customer if you use substitute supplies.
If you have started a business to print what evers, and you bought quality to print with why would you risk hobbling that ability to print quality.
my business is manufacturing rosin presses. i also sell clothes hats and posters and heaps more. Yes by all means i would pass the savings on, i usually give away my stickers and posters. the code would be open to the public on here to. but I went a different route. but thank you for the help. im going to use my arduino to run a old school arcade cabinet im buiding for fun.
I found a guy that makes the chips for my printer cartridges for $50 so i bought 12 of them . they have 300ml of ink in the data . I can refil my old carts and swap the chips.
i'd rather not mate , but that's probably good advice . thank you.
Thank you
Even more confused between rosin press and high quality printer.
But that is fine have a nice day.
