Problem connect Mega 2560 R3

I have problem connect to my Mega 2560 R3 and can't get the driver IDE 1.0.6 working correct. I can see the board under "unknown device" in the device manager when i connect it to the computer.

I updated the driver in the device manager / Ports COM&LPT / Arduino LLC and select the driver "Arduino Mega 2560. After the update i get a message that a driver was found but was not correctly installed and that the device not working. (Code 10). The Mega is now visible under COM&LPT instead of "unknown device".

Reinstalled the IDE, changed USB-Cable, restarted the computer, nothing helps. In the device manager i can see the Mega at port 22 or 24 depending of USB-port. Tried using different USB-Port and deactivate/Activate. The LED "ON" is on and the LED "L" is flashing. The chip is a ATMEGA 2560 16AU 1406. Using Windows 7 (64bit)

I have searched for a solution on Internet forums and FAQ but found nothing that helps. Found some similar problems but those solutions don't work.

Tried everything and don't know what to do, this is my first Arduino and really need help.

Post a link to where you got the boards from, that way the USB to serial chip used can be double checked. Failing that post a picture of the board itself.

OK, thanks. Sent a message to the seller, have to wait and see.

I meant post a link here with where you bought the board, or put up a picture of it...

Ok, sorry i misunderstood you. However, i got a mail from the seller including links to download sites from where i downloaded the driver CH340. Installed this (tried a two others from other sites) and the installation of the driver worked ok.

Restarted/reinstalled everything but it´s still not working. Maybe something wrong wit the Mega?

I dont know the if problem relates to my computer or the arduino. As i am new on this i really should appreciate if someone could explain the problem.

Spent hours on this an still not one step further, not a good start.

Used a magnifying glass, the USB to Serial chip is marked:

HDM CH 340G
202685405

OK The CH340 should be marked WCH (The manufacturers mark)

The drivers are available from here:

Which is the manufacturers website.

Once you have those downloaded and installed, check what comes up in device manager. We both use and sell CH340 based devices and find they work well.

Yesterday i tried to connect with my other computer, a simple notebook and everything worked perfectly. Downloaded the driver and the Arduino IDE and now there was no problem, in less than 20 minutes i have tested the example /Basic/Blink. After all problems i was surprised how fast it went.

I dont know yet what cause the problem connect to my other computer, have to take a closer look at that later. Both computers use Win7 /64bit , must be something else, at least good to know that the problem relates to the computer and not the Arduino.

Thanks for all help.

What? You mean the board oldman60 has doesn't work under Windows 8? How do you know?

Or do you have a different board? In which case post some kind of link/photo so that it can actually be identified correctly.
