Protect pcb: Potting Compounds or alternative

I have a small AC-to-5V(3.5w) transformer and no case for it.

**Would it be better to use a heat shrink tube to cover it,

or should I go with a liquid compound?

Any recommendations for something easy to use and budget-friendly?**

when I searched for "potting compound" on AliExpress, nothing came up.

  1. Is there another name I should use to search for this type of product?
or Any specific recommendations or alternatives?

Try this search term, I found several but not cheap: "electronics potting compound"

  • Remember, potting a PCB can affect heat dissipation.

  • Highly suggest you place the module into an electronic project box.
Lots of inexpensive options on Amazon.

Example, $3.00

Why not get a case?

Why do you need to cover it?

You have not told us why you need an enclosure! From you picture, you can already see you need an enclosure to contain the potting compound, so that is already a non-starter!

Make your own enclosure from thin wood paneling or plywood and epoxy to clue it together.

To use heat shrink, you will need a fairly large heat gun. Even then the tubing ends are still open.

If just to keep the bottom of the circuit board from scratching or shorting, again, a piece of any insulating material, wood, or what you have on hand will work.
