Hi - I’m looking to buy a Max7219 8-digit 7 Segment Led Display Module.
There are tons of these for sale online from US$1-$5. But what’s not at all clear is whether these modules are the PCB only or if they also include the two 4-digit LED packages on the board.
Anyone have experience buying one of these recently?

Mine came complete, can't imagine they would only sell the PCB.
It is likely but OTOH, you can''t put anything past eBay sellers.
I have recently been - not terribly seriously - bidding on auction for 1602 (or the substantially more expensive 2004) displays with I2C backpacks.
Many of these (not necessarily those on auction) are advertised as having the I2C interface and even specify the I2C address but the backpack is shown in none of the pictures. And it is clear that the displays are the usual 1602 ones with 16 pins and the standard component placement. I am very much suspicious that if I did order one, I would not get the backpack and would be going through the eBay complaints process - which is all the much harder because the product may take most of the 60 day cycle to arrive (or sometimes does not arrive at all and the 60 days is up).
What is to say the least amusing, is to bid low on items and unless the bids actually reach the common non-auction price by the day before it closes, the item is withdrawn as "no longer available". This is pretty much the rule for items advertised by our favourite purveyor of "Arduino"-related electronics.
