Quick and Fast IR sensor

Hey guys,

I am looking for a Fast and quick responding IR sensor, which can detect an Object from 6 mm diameter and about 70 m/s speed.

It would help me if you know some blogs who talked about this or some products and circuits I could use

Thanks for your help

Where is the IR light coming from? Is it steady or modulated like from a TV remote control? Is there other IR light, such as the sun, that will flood the sensor?

Paul

How far from the IR sensor will the "6 mm" object be, and what is in the background?

Thanks for reply,

There will be nearly no other light and the IR Light comes from an IR diode on the other side. The Background will be black and I think the distance between IR sensor and IR emitter will be 20 mm.

Thanks.

Use an IR photodiode in reverse bias mode, for extremely fast response. You will probably need a suitable amplifier.

Google "arduino light gate" for some example projects.
