Hi Arduino fam' !
I have a question about RFID sensors.
Can a RFID RC522 have a reading distance (detect) at at least 1m ?
I heard about different types of frequency uses : LF, HF, UHF (125/134kHz ; 13.56MHz -> 1m ; 868/928MHz -> 3 to 6m).
So can a RFID RDC522 read a HF or UHF card (1m or 3/6m) ?
Thank you very much in advance.
From the product data on that device on the Hobbytronics site:
- MFRC522 chip based board
- Operating frequency: 13.56MHz
- Supply Voltage: 3.3V
- Current: 13-26mA
- Read Range: Approx 3cm with supplied card and fob
- SPI Interface
- Max Data Transfer Rate: 10Mbit / s
- Dimensions: 60mm × 39mm
So probably not!
Thank you for your answer !
Definitely not actually.
Those sorts of reading ranges can only be had with UHF RFID readers. Spark fun have the cheapest you will get but even then they are three times the order of magnitude of price than the RC522.
