Looking for an RFID reader

I am making a project for social distancing and need an RFID reader which has a read distance somewhere between 2-3 meters.

Welcome to the forum

2 to 3 meters sounds like a tall order for an RFID reader bearing in mind the inverse square law which means that a very powerful transmitter would be required

They make "long range" readers, they probably use active sensors depending on the unit. Try searching with this term: "arduino rfid reader long range". This way you can pick something that is in your budget, I found them in the $40 to over $2500.00.

I don't have much knowledge about rfid, I know some things related to arduino, let me know if this reader is good enough, also, is there a special card required for it to be functional or a card which comes with the RC522 is fine? Considering this one says it can read till 10m

I do not think it will work, it states 2 to 5 cm that is a max of about 6" or 0.1 meter.

OP - For this product, you're confusing distance from reader to computer(100m), with distance from RFID chip to reader(2-15 cm).

Ohhh, thank you so much for clearing this thing...
Do you think any UHF reader will be under 25$ as that's my budget and it works well for my purpose?

No idea, I've never played in the RFID sandbox.

Take a look at the "PRT100 Long Range Contactless Induce Reader". It may work but not as well as you may want.
