Robot Dog Design

Hello everyone, I want to ask something. I want to build a robot dog model (Kangal), but I only have 20kg servos. I saw someone else build that model using 35kg servos. Please recommend—should I build the Kangal robot dog with 20kg servos, or is that not a good idea? If not, could you recommend another model for me? Thank you.

What is a 20kg servo? You remember your last posting and you need to supply links to whatever you are discussing. We cannot see what you are looking at.

Well it depends. Firstly gather all your components and weigh them. be sure to leave a headroom as the listed torque of servos is the stall torque aka the point where the servo stops moving. If left at that point, servos eventually burn. To compensate, try using a smaller battery, or using less infill on the 3d printed parts. A more drastic solution would be to use a different board than the orange Pi, but that would require planing regarding the functionality you want.

So does that mean I would be testing the maximum torque of the servo?”

So I was researching about my robot dog model and I noticed that the Kangal design is very complex and needs high torque. I found that many people don’t recommend using 20kg servo motors, and I also saw that some people use the same model but with 35kg servos instea

With the cheap hobby servos, there is no capability of using less than the maximum torque available at the voltage you are supplying the servo.

It would learning experience, especially if the servos are not up to the task.
