I bought S91 Series Laser Distance Module from JRT. It uses U81x module. A manual was provided. Other than that, nothing more was provided. I tried to use example(s) shown in library U8xLaserDistance library. But I have got no success at all. Has anyone used S91 with a success. Could you share your experience please, if possible.
Dear @johnchugh
you should at least modify your titel that your titel says
"who has experience with JRT S91 Laser-Distance-module?"
I estimate there will be only a few users that have this experience.
That more users can help
You should provide as much information as possible.
post a link where the manual can be downloaded
Take pictures of the important pages of the manual and post them
especially the interface description
what voltage-levels does the serial interface have?
standard RS232 is +12V / -12V
what baudrate?
what number of databits?
what parity?
What exatcly is "U81xmodule" ???
Are you sure that the S91-laser-distance-module is compatible with U81-module?
Did you get any kind of "answer" from the module? Even if the data received seems scrumbled?
By googling focused on the website of https://www.jrt-measure.com/
S91 distance site:https://www.jrt-measure.com/ - Google Search
I found this video
How to test 10m LiDAR Sensor IP54 - S91 - JRT
The 10m-type has a RS485-interface. Which has a very different electrical characteristic than standard TTL

You will have to specify much more precise which S91-sensor you have as there are
two of them
S91 Manufacturer, China S91 Supplier
On the website you can use the

button
to send the manufacturer a request
I was curious about the reaction of the manufacturer so I send them a request myself
This is what they answered in a first email
Model#: S95
Measure range: 0.03~10m/20m are optional
Power supply: 5-32VDC
Output: digital RS485 output
All documents will be sent to you once we got your reply to avoid enter spam. waiting for your kindly reply.
What is a bit strange I sended the request based on this product
S91
and got informations about S95
Anyway it says
Output: digital RS485 output
You will need a RS485 to TTL-Adapter if you want to connect this sensor to a microcontroller
No doubt, I was going in curcles. Thanks for the guidance. Well appreciated.
