Why don't you start with explaining the advantages. Saving a buck or two isn't, in my opinion, a reason to go with a non-standard board.
The hardware (of course, a link to the hardware you are interested in would be useful) is only a small part of the project. The software will dominate your involvement far more than the hardware. Saving a dollar on the hardware, only to (possibly) spend $100 more on getting the software to work is not going to make an accountant happy.
Without knowing specifically which two boards you want us to compare, any list of differences is just arm waving.

The sain smart shield is probably just another clone of the original arduino shield. You can probably save 100% buying another clone Ethernet shield on ebay like below. If buying on ebay, buy from sellers that have high volumes of transactions and good ratings. You can check the seller's negative ratings to be aware of any potential purchase issues.
