Sensor Timing Disk

Welcome
I have a question about reading disks. Can any disk work on a sensor, or does each sensor have its own disk?

Assuming that the discussion about optical slotted optical interrupt sensor?

A 90 degree quadrature disk willl meed to be cosely matched with its sensor.

If you just need to count pulses the assemby can be less precise.

But, first, lets decide what we are talking about. Please read to how-to-get-the-best-out-of-this-forum threads.

There are thousands of sensors, what one(s) are you talking about. Obviously a thermometer will not count for you.

I have this sensor and it is intended

Thst does not look like an optical sensor.

Pease tell us what the sensor and wheels came from. Post a data sheet or part numbers.

Photos of the disc and sensor in situ may be a big help.

I tire of the guessing game and will move on.

To me it looks like optical sensor.
Pulled out from some printer perhaps?
