Short range distance sensor

Hi everyone,

I am building a project requiring sensor that can measure short range (< 10 cm) distance, I cant find any suitable one yet. I tried IR from Sharp GP and ultrasonic from HC-SR04 but both are quite not measurable under 10 cm.
Anyone can recommend me one?

I've seen proximity sensors on Adafruit as well. Measuring <10 cm, but don't know what the lower limit of the sensor is.

The HC-SR04 can measure <10 cm just fine. It's minimum distance is 2-4 cm.

Would calipers with serial digital output work for you?
