Hello guys I am building a gps tracker using a
SIM7600G-H-PCIE SIMCom

Depends what you want to do with your module.
Probably you want ipex-1 4G LTE antenna and separate ipex1-GPS antenna.
Whatever could provide a decent signal and something compatible with my unit
Do the manufacturers\sellers of that device give any indication as to the type of GPS antenna needed ?
For which part of the project. The gps antenna must be separate from the LTE antenna as oer the documentation. Looks like there are actually three antenna connections on the chip.
So does it mean I have to get 3 antennas?
I’m ok with it tired to use chatgpt it did recommend few brands but didn’t say anything about more than one antenna
In addition watched some YouTube videos they used one antenna
However after some research I found this one
https://www.amazon.com/Waterproof-Active-Antenna-28dB-3-5VDC/dp/B00LXRQY9A
Please let me know if I need any additional antennas
Read the documentation. One for the LTE connection and one for the GPS system you choose.
So I tired to research according to documentation (Image attached) there are 3 antennas chatgpt says gps antenna is optional but I will install anyway
So in conclusion Main antenna and diversity antenna can be identical?
I found those on market matching frequency range not sure they are compatible
LTE
Gps
Thank you
Thank you
Yes, but to get diversity the antennas must be offset some number of wavelengths. Otherwise there is no diversity. No, you don't need the GPS antenna if you are not going to be using any type of GPS. It's ALL in the configuration you set up in the chip internal controller.
If you don't have any specific use case for your device, my response on post#2 covers what you probably need. I'm not suggesting you any specific "brand" or link to aliexpress.
Instead if you tell that you use your device in area where there is only 900MHz gsm available, my suggestion would be different.
