during my research I have found the software called Arduino builder which looks extremely useful for AVR programming. Unfortunately this software is currently supported for windows only. If any of you know a similar software for this for Mac, would be highly appreciated.
Since 1.6.6, the ide has used arduino-builder behind the scenes to compile sketches on all platforms. I don't know where you get the idea that it is windows only.
This about a completely different beast: Arduino Builder | ArduinoDev.com
useful for AVR
I tried to look it over, but can't tell what it is doing. I wish someone would do an IDE for plain C (I am so confused by the heap and stack memory usage in C++) and use a Makefile system (with a way I can edit when needed). I would also like to use the standard library's printf() functions.
