I know you old timers are tired, but I haven't found the thread that helps.
I'm on build 1.8.13. I've developed a project on a Uno board. With the Uno I just plugged it in and Win10 recognized it. Now I've unplugged the Uno and am ready to work with a Nano.
Win10 installs it as an "Other devices - USB Serial" IDE does not recognize it.
I've done an "update driver" to the USB Serial using every library in the 1.8.13 Driver folder. Win 10 says no driver found.
If it's a clone it may need another driver (not supplied by Arduino) - Can you tell us where you bought it from (With a link) - or what the chip next to the USB has printed on it.
Thank you. Yes, it wasn't obvious to a newbe that the chip on the bottom was what was important. It says CH340G.
All this time I'm confused because I kept thinking, "no I have a Mega328p, not a CH340." Duh.
Now that points me in a better direction, search-wise. Maybe I can find this driver myself.
It's a LAFVIN. Their web site is of no use. I'm new to this so I didn't realize all the different makers. I bought my UNO off Amazon so I did the same with the Nano. Maybe I should just return this and buy one from here.
Now that I'm searching better, I found several sites pointing to this scary Chinese driver program. Only because several trusted sites all said this was "the way" I downloaded it and installed it. Board must be connected to system for the install to work.
Sorry to have bothered everyone. The key, for me was look on the bottom of the board. "Ah, Captain. There be chips there."
I'm sure somewhere in the documentation and forums this discussion has been had, it's just an overwhelming amount of material out there, both here and elsewhere.
