Hi Patboza,
I have used the Tamiya twin motor/gearbox before, it's fine, but I really had problems with that Motor shield you have there!! It also uses it own library, and I'm not sure just how much control you have??
As jremington says you will lose 2v or so across the L293 driver, so you need 4x AA Nimh (highest current rating you can get) at least, I now tend to use a FET driver or driver module (on a proto-type shiled, or home made PCB) or the SN754400 that are better.
I have just started to use Li-ion cells that are the same size but 3.7V so I only need 2, for more power and less weight.
Hope it helps, get back to us. Here's a picture my TamyBot....
Hi RP,
Sorry to say but the bits are now in my spares box, having moved on to other things it was good fun, but in the end the Tamiya bits let me down. The main problem being slippage on the wheel/axles and gears, shame I really did like it, and may even do it again.
I take lots of pictures, but just so not into video!! You can see more pictures of this and other bots at: www.mel@melsaunders.co.uk under Electronics.
