Trouble Installing UNO R3 Drivers with Windows XP

Hello all,

When I try to install the drivers for UNO R3 on my windows XP system, the installation wizard finds the driver file successfully but then once it starts installing it tells me I need to insert the #2 Windows XP system disk into the disk drive. I don't own this disk anymore.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Any ideas on what I can do to resolve it? Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi

I'm not sure what drivers you are talking about. If they are the Virtual Com Ports drivers, I already have them installed so I can work with another Arduino product. They work fine, but when I try to connect to an Arduino Uno Rev 3, it doesn't work. I think the problem is with the Rev 3 product, not the drivers, or how they are installed.

Open your device manager and if your arduino is plugged in, it should show "Unknown Device". Click on it, then on "Update Drivers". Be sure to click on "Manual Update". Click on browse, and go to your Arduino 1.0 folder. Select the "Drivers" file WITH ALL SUB-FILES!!! This will get you the file. XD

The problem is that my Arduino doesn't show up as anything useful.

As soon as I plug is it, a new USB device shows up in the root of the devices list. What I have is:

Other devices
USB device

When I click on that it allows me to install a new driver. But when I actually try it Windows tells me:
"Cannot install this Hardware" Cannot find the software, but I pointed at the FTDI directory in the Arduino directory.
Any clues.

Mike....

Are you sure you're clicking on manual update?

To My knowledge I'm not doing anything wrong. The driver from FTDI is one that I had installed in the past for another project. I compared the two sets of files and they are identical. I tried reinstalling from FTDI and it said the software I have installed is already the latest.

I tried installing MPIDE on a Win 7 system. And I get the exact problem. The device drive menus calls it an "Unknow device" and it won't install. I also have another laptop running an almost virgin copy of XP and I get the same results.

What do these devices run when you first bye them?? Mine looks like it's running a copy of "Blinky" I'm wondering if the loader was overwritten??

Mike....

So, after talking to someone I realized part of what was happening.
Arduino made a change between REV2 and REV3 which I didn't know about. They require a different driver other than the FTDI driver. Once I realized that, I loaded the new drivers and thoutht I was under way. It looked like the software was loading, but at the end I got the error:
"usbdev_open(); did not find any USB device "usb" " I know it did something becasue "blinky" stopped working.

This is exactly the procedure I use when attempting to install the drivers. It does find the correct UNO R3 driver, but the installation stalls and asks me to insert the windows XP disk. Does anyone know why this would happen?

Tem que fazer o download da release 1.0 do arduino em:

E descompactar.

Depois no gerenciador de dispositivos indicar o driver que vai estar nessa release.

Resolvido aqui!!!
