Ultrasonic fuel level detector

Hi guys I am using DS1309B ultrasonic fuel level detector for measuring oil level in a tank. But I am having problems, sometimes it shows me the actual reading and most of the times it shows me 1 V which is default voltage when sensor is not operating properly. When I disconnect the sensor and connect it again, it shows me the correct voltage. I am using it analog voltage output. I donot know if it is placement issue or something else. Kindly suggest if anyone has used this or similar sensor. I appreciate your suggestions. The complete link of the device is below.

Why are you not using the RS-232 output? A link to an English version of the ad would be more appropriate to an English forum.

Could it be that your connections are just not good? Try solder.

Actually I am now using rs232 output. Now when I get the data it shows me actual output value that corresponds to the level, e.g. 0943 means 9.43 cm. And when it does not give any value, it shows 0000. Hence it is easy to understand. And after testing it on different materials plastic, iron etc. I come to know that this is related to placement of the sensor. I am following the guidelines and sensors starts working but after sometime it stops working and I get 0000. Then I change the position of the sensor, it starts working again but stops after sometime. I do not understand what caused this behavior. If I placed the sensor wrong, it should not start working in the first place, rather than stopping after 30-40 minutes.
I appreciate your suggestions.

I suggest a mail to the vendor. Telling them oil type, tank material & thickness, in addition to the information here. It probably something obvious to them but not us.
