Ultrasonic measure JSN SR04 and gps logging

Hello my name is Peter from Sweden i need a program to measure things such as clearance on bridges and be able to log it with gps cordinates and log in SD card.
Do you guys think this is possible project?

what I want Arduino to do is :
to measure bridge clearance by ultrasonic measurement.
able to save a location with coordinates so if you can make a GPS logger that saves as a place along the journey or if MQN can follow the entire journey but put out special markers that are saved to an SD card.
have a display so I can see the height , my car is 2.7 m high , one can set the sensor so that it starts measuring from 2.7 m or count it away in the measurement.
it should be able to measure the bridge clearance and sign them with coordinates and this could make quite automatically, so it measures the height and saves bridge height cordinater .
was a little messy but hope you understand

you have two projects, one to measure the clearance, not height of the overpass.

the second is to log the location.

in my journey to work, we have a railroad trestle that slops up, or the road dips. driving at 60 mph, I just know the clearance is not parallel.

second, not all ultra-sonic devices will give you clearance to the closest possible part. I would offer that it can be done, but testing of your devices would be in order.

the JSN-SR04 has an expected 4 meter range. on another thread, it came up that an ultrasonic measuring tape has both a laser pointer and distance sensor for much further than 4 meters.

GPS should be easy enough, even if you are a couple meters off, it would be the only overpass on that road anywhere near those coordinates.

ok thanks for your reply .
I run a pilot car and my goal is to be able to measure when the heights of various kinds. what you said about measuring tape
it is possible to tackle one of those and just take the display and measure the key and put in the driver's cab ?.
I want to be able to have this data then also iframtiden .
the fact that measuring height is no problem the lowest bridges with no sign marking is 4.5 m high but sometimes escort us up to 7 meters high .
It is of course much more interesting if you can put a measuring tape on the ceiling and pull down cables to the cab so you get logging height manually cases.
Is this something that could be an idea ???

So the sensor must be waterproof

I would think you have a sign on your vehicle, lights or some such ?

for those tall loads, you could mount your sensor above that sign.

I would expect that not only can you display this in the car, but you could put in a sign on the back of the car with red or green so that if your sensor revealed a problem your lights would show red. show the driver behind that there is a problem

the JSN-SR04 is simple, you can get one, any Arduino and a display and try it out. I assume you already have an electronic measuring tape, so you can calibrate this set-up.

there are sketches you can download for both the SR04 and the display, so should be able to do this very easily.

we have a railroad trestle that slops up

I just hate when that happens. 8)

yes just have rotating lights on the roof so it will therefore interfere with the signal .
ok there are codes and how to put together Arduino Ultrasonic sensor with display ?
I also wonder how one can do with GPS part
you can put together the SD card reader, GPS and a button that logs only when you press the button and go this will carry over into a mobile app instead? very grateful for all the help

there are a couple sites from guys who have done more work on the project.

http://www.underwaterrov.net/hacking-reverse-parking-sensors-with-an-arduino

for $20 USD or about, you can get an actual car parking sensor kit, with 4 sensors.
then hack into that and get a reading on each sensor
