Unable to upload to Uno on Mac Yosemite

I am using Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 and am unable to select Serial ports. When I try to upload it gives error message:

avrdude: ser_open(): can't open device "COM1": No such file or directory
ioctl("TIOCMGET"): Inappropriate ioctl for device
Problem uploading to board.

I have uploaded to another board but this one is for Makeblock Robot Starter Kit. Their info says board is UNO, I have installed their device drivers but I cannot select Serial ports, only bluetooth options.

I found a link to install virtual COM port drivers from VCP Drivers - FTDI but no change.

Any help would be wonderful

The Mac doesn't use the name "COM1". It uses something like "/dev/cu.usbmodem1411". Did you forget to select the port from the Tools->Port menu?
