I am an IOS user, I have a MacBook Pro, and I installed VMware Horizon Client in my computer. I usually open VMware to use Arduino since in here it looks more like a Windows system, and it is better to follow my teacher's instructions. So, I was trying to finish this classwork which I need to program a Arduino Robot Car, but I cannot connect my SSD to VMware because it appears only on my IOS system in the Finder app. So, I cannot open my downloaded Arduino files in the SSD. on VMware. So, I tried using an example called Blink to test the light of my Arduino Robot Car, and the car is connected through an adaptors that is connected in the computer. I saw I am using COM3 which is the port I use in class when I am using a Windows computer, so I thought it was all right. But, then I uploaded and I got the error from the image. I don't know what to do anymore. These classwork are due today, Friday 11/15/24. Someone please help me solve this.
Hi @yurinunes123. I'm sure it is possible to find a solution for the problem you are experiencing, but since you are so short on time I recommend you stop attempting to use VMware and just use Arduino IDE directly in macOS instead. Using a virtual machine just introduces a lot of complexity into the system because you must configure the virtualization software to allow it to access your USB devices in order to upload. You are less likely to find a helper here who is knowledgeable in the subject of configuring VMware than you are to find those who are knowledgeable on the more common aspects of working with Arduino.
If you try it without the virtual machine and encounter any problems, let us know and we'll try to help you with that.
Ok, I am using Arduino through MacOs and I am currently in this part. It looks totally different from Arduino in VMware and I don't know which board to choose since my teacher does not need to choose one when she starts the instructions video.
We need to know more about the hardware you are using before we can advise you on which board to select.
You mentioned you are working with an "Arduino Robot Car":
Please tell us about this "Arduino Robot Car".
Did you purchase it yourself? If so, please provide a link to the product page on the website you purchased it from. We should be able to obtain the necessary information by studying that page.
Or if the car was provided to you by the institution, we will need to you provide a detailed description of it. It is likely the car has an Arduino board, to which a separate circuit board for the electronics related specifically to the car is connected. We need to know about that Arduino board. A clear high resolution picture of the board will be useful. You can attach the image to your reply here on this forum thread:
- Open a forum reply here by clicking the "Reply" button.
- Click the "Upload" icon () on the post composer toolbar:
The "Open" dialog will open. - Select the file from the "Open" dialog.
- Click the "Open" button.
The dialog will close. - Click the "Reply" button to publish the post.
Alternatively, instead of using the "Upload" icon on the post composer toolbar as described in steps (2) - (4) above, you can simply drag and drop the file onto the post composer field to attach it.
