He also told me to go with the Solid State relay instead of the relay I was planning to use. He told me SSR could be directly connected to Arduino without any problems.
You need DPST  - double pole, single throw.  Like this
So you will need two SSR's to allow you to switch BOTH Line and Neutral

In the picture of OP, I see a heavy switch and a cylindrical object I take to be a capacitor, NO relay or contactor and 5 wires (2 red, 1 black, yellow and green). How are those wires connected to what?
