I had high expectations considering that this is a technical forum for the quality of this discussion. Why would I do that?
Excellent point showing Trump supporters do listen to him and consider what he says. However, I do not consider this being an example of Trump directly changing minds. Please note that those voters merely included Trump’s input within a broader context. For those candidates Trump endorsed, many of them were still rejected by the voters. The polling change after the endorsement was usually marginal. Many others questioned Trump’s choice and chose to go against it. In my challenge, I asked for examples of people changing their minds because Trump said it and I believe this example, while close, does not meet the standard of my challenge.
Thanks for supporting my first statement in this discussion: the accusations in this discussion demonstate no first-hand knowledge of Trump’s statements. Only second-hand knowledge from sources determined to attack Trump without caring about inconvenient facts or even reality.
Again, a baseless straw man attack. Ignore my point and attack nonsense instead. This is now the third time that I stated that you have the situation backwards. Donald Trump does not know how to persuade his target audience to follow him. Absolutely impossible for him. No, instead, he tells his audience that he agrees with their prior beliefs. Not only that, he asks them for their support so that he can represent their beliefs to cause the change his audience demands. This enables Donald Trump to have a level of support and loyalty far beyond any con-artist can conjure.
I believe that opponents of Donald Trump and his supporters cannot comprehend the situation between Trump and his base. This is for one simple reason: projection. They give persuasive speeches to “the masses” and convince them into believing the candidate will help them if elected. Of course, once elected, the candidate tramples the masses gathering riches for themself and their favored persons. How could anyone do something different?
What response are you expecting to this nonsense? Just pulling an accusation out of thin air and expecting it to do something beneficial to your argument? Are you suggesting it cannot compile? Or that the compiled sketch refuses to perform the assigned tasks? Do you want to elaborate on this? Or forget you brought it up?
Your first post was so asinine I ignored it. Finding a new logic fallacy and using it to demand a response again will not help your argument. In neither of your posts did you demonstrate any understanding of my statement. Both times, you attacked economic principles unrelated to the statement you were attacking.
An accurate understanding would be looking at how SparkFun and Adafruit would be economically impacted by tariffs on the foreign clones of their products. In both instances, the manufacturing capacity already exists domestically and the prices have already been established by the respective companies. The intended effect of the tariffs reduce foreign imports (known redundancy for clarity) of clones and encourage sales for domestic (often original) products. Personally, I shop on Adafruit’s website first, check Amazon second, and only view Alibaba as a last resort. Quality over Quantity every time for me. In other words, most of my Arduino boards are genuine Adafruit and Arduino products.
Would love to see a higher quality discussion here. Will we see it?

It’s asinine to keep waving your hands without doing the numbers. In that example, It would take 1000% tariffs before you make a $3 clone match the price of a $30 uno. Short of that obscene level of tariff, there’s a clear price-quality tradeoff, and the market gains to companies like sparkfun are marginal. Manufacturing renaissance-wise, how much does an existing manufacturer have to expand to pick up the marginal gain in market? Sparkfun could likely double production with marginal increases in personnel and infrastructure. Where’s the math on how high tariffs would have to be to push potential customers to producers that would have to significantly increase payrolls? 100% tariffs on clone aren’t going to cause 100% more sparkfun jobs. Generously, they’ll cause 10% more market, well within what sparkfun can handle with existing payrolls and infrastructure. There’s a few important stages between tariffs and jobs that will make the promised gains nowhere near as significant as the costs. Sure the intention sounds good, but the math is asinine.

You can check the syntax of a statement made in a computer language and be assured that the computer will unambiguously execute it. That doesn't imply that if a human can write a computer program, that they all have the same beliefs.
Programming and engineering are bound by rules and physical laws that make it possible to become proficient in them. That doesn't necessarily define their belief system.

I've come to a few conclusions about the current state of affairs in America based partly on attending a couple of Trump rallies, local gatherings of all faces of the political die, transcripts of various speeches, etc.
The whole Make America Great Again campaign was a nice piece of marketing. In it, Trump asserts up front that America has fallen from greatness. How so? The notion that there exists a great number of Americans that do not fit the "norm" that the rest of America find acceptable and that if we eliminate them, all will be great again.
The problem with many marketing campaigns is that by the time you have reduced them to the point that they can be symbolized on a cap, they don't really represent the product.
Here's what I have observed. A large number of Americans have gotten lazy. They have benefitted one way or another from institutionalized racism or oppression of minority classes that when an attempt to correct what might be considered an injustice is attempted, they feel threatened.
People who don't think that being able to spell or use good grammar or do simple arithmetic in their heads isn't important to them or to their children because they were making a good living without all that, are rightly concerned. Someone who had to work a lot harder because they are not part of a privileged class might just be more employable. Because of DEI, don't ya know?
So what they really want is for someone to help them Make America Mediocre Again but they don't think MAMA looks nearly as cool on a cap.
