What are the screw terminal connections on the MKR 485 shield? As I understand it the RS 485 standard connection requires an A connection B connection and ground connection. There is a two terminal connector on the MKR 485 board which I believe is for Vin and ground. There is another connector with 6 terminals, if there are three connections required for RS485, why is this 2x the required amount?
The board has no documentation????
Yeah, so if anyone who owns the board knows how it works it would be helpful before I purchase it
Believe me, that is not going to happen. Please provide at least a link to the board you are talking about.
I have to assume you are talking about some alternative board, since the board I Googled is documented here:
https://docs.arduino.cc/hardware/mkr-485-shield
Yes I had this tab open, but the pinout of the screw terminals is not described here.
If you go to the Arduino store here:
and scroll down to Documentation, you will see the schematic for the board. That tells you what the terminal block connections are.
The explanation for the application of the terminals is found in the IC data sheet:
https://datasheets.maximintegrated.com/en/ds/MAX3157.pdf
There are extra terminals because it supports full duplex communications.
