What is the correct method to connect two MAX7219 8x32 matrixes?

I’ve gone through a few now trying to solder or bend pins and think I’m destroying the contacts on the d-out side. I need to connect them together with no gap between the two sets of 4 matrixes.

Use the socket equivalent of the 5 pin header connector on the other side. Like this one or you can also find them on eBay.

I’ve been through mouser and can’t find a socket version with the correct 1.27mm pitch.

This is the part I would need but it’s only listed on ismolex, not somewhere I could purchase it (am UK) : 1.27mm (.050'') pitch Female Header Connectors | Smolex

This is just a click away from your link:
2.54mm Right-angle Female Header Connectors | Smolex (ismolex.com)

And here are bunch on eBay UK
pin header socket right angle for sale | eBay

Wrong pitch.

You have the equipment and can measure it, but every other instance of the matrix modules you have shown in your original post have a 0.1" (2.54mm) pitch for the pins.

i have just bended down that 90 degree connector (to 180 degrees) and soldered it to the out pins of the previous module.
