What should i choose?

I now have a choice between two boards, what should I choose? Arduino Uno R4 Minima Original or Arduino Uno R3 Original? I am new to arduino, visually I like arduino r3, but r4 wifi is more powerful, what should I choose?

definitely the r4 wifi, it is the same as the r3 but has even more capabilities, if I do suggest though, if you are going for bigger projects or more projects, I would recomend the Arduino giga!

Buy an inexpensive third party R3 to start with. You won't run into library incompatibilities with it and if you happen to toast it, you can buy another and still not have forked out half of what a single R4 would set you back.

good point

in my country, an arduino clone costs 500 UAH (~12 dollars), that's without CH340, arduino r3/r4 wifi cost 1500 UAH(~36 dollars) I think it's better to buy the original once and not buy a clone 2+ times, and I also support Ardiono

Likely Uno clone has some USB-serial onboard.

I totally agree.
R3 is easier to start with for compatibility and decade long documentation online.
On the other hand if there's no difference in price, R4 looks like the best bang for your bucks.

I plan to buy r4, because it has a more convenient USB port (type-c) and seems to have best esp32 module(esp32s3)

Most beginner projects on the internet are with the R3, or it's little sister, the classic Nano.
The R4 will be a steeper learning curve. Expect more roadblocks.
Leo..

The Uno R4 boards have Renasas processors that the main code runs on. They also have an ESP32 chip that is used for external communication

If you're a complete newbie, I recommend a standard UNO R3, just to start and make your first projects. With R4 you could face some library incompatibilities driving you mad, and hard to solve.

If you aren't a beginner, you would never have asked this question.

About original/clone debate: if/when you can, buy Original to support Arduino, but to start you better buy a clone because of the high chance you could do something wrong and fry the board.
The wise man says: a clone in the trash bin is better than an Original one. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I've always recommended buying an original R3 as your first UNO. However, recently I've been recommending the Elegoo R3 with the DIP processor and 16U2 as your first UNO. (Cheaper through Ali)

Once you learn not to damage it, buy an Original Arduino Nano, or two. The Uno is easier to learn on. The Nano is easier to integrate into projects.

Why are you limited to those 2 choices?

Do you know what a "shield" is in the Arduino world? Do you plan to use any?

If the answer is no, neither choice is appropriate.

Tell the forum more about what type of projects you are interested in and we can advise most appropriate models of Arduino for you.

in my country it is not available, there is only a not very high quality copy, the seller said the processor is original, but I still prefer the original p3

Can you explain your point about the Uno?

I completely agree about the Nano.

In general, I don’t know what projects I’ll do, I plan to start with LED control, when i become better i plan make my projects bigger and bigger

mb because uno has more pins for connecting modules

Oh, ok, which pins does Uno have that Nano does not?

(Assuming we are talking classic Nano V3 here and Uno R3).

I was wrong about the pins, sorry

mb because almost all nano use CH340(in my country)

I found only one arduino nano without CH340, but it costs the same as a good clone arduino uno r3
