What's wrong with my GSM SIM800L V2

Initially I got confused between V1 and V2 and used a 4.4 supply for this one. Though it did work it kept resetting after a few seconds. Then i read somewhere that the two parallel diodes on the module should reduce the input voltage so I must use 7V at 2A.

It worked like magic.

I was able to make calls and I got so excited looking at the delay in the Net led (meaning network has been registered).

I tried using the sim on my GSM SIM800L V1 (the red chip) and initially it worked. But all of a sudden, I don't know what happened but the voltage dropped suddenly and chip started overheating. I kept this one at 5V initially.

I thought the sim was broken so I tried calling to someone on my phone using it and it worked. No issues with the sim.

Now when I put back the sim into the V2, I see that the network has been registered but it's not responding to any AT commands or is it making any calls. I tried switching the Tx and Rx in case I made a mismatch but no.

Been stuck with this project for months and when I start to see light at the end of the tunnel it suddenly closed again.

V1 is max 4.2V board and you gave 5V
V2 is max 5.2V board and you gave 7V
So you abused both of them. And they initially worked until they got damaged.

I think you've read my post wrong .
V2 only worked when I gave it 7V. Made calls using that voltage
