I have a pair of diagonal cutters from 50 or so years ago that remind me to check for yourself if the power is off. My brother said that he had tripped the breaker. Unfortunately he had turned the wrong one off. The blinding flash and fall from the ladder did not hurt me as much as I would have hurt him had I been able see to catch him.
If you cut short, just stretch the wire, right?
The wire stretcher is in the garage, on the same shelf as the blinker fluid, the wireless cable, and the striped paint.

My free trial subscription to GPS has run out. Why is it so expensive, and why can I only pay by direct bank transfer? Oh, wait - wrong thread.
Satellites are expensive
I don't like satellite jokes, they always go over my head
If it'll reach from you to me, it's long enough, Honey...
It's not the length of the wire that matters, it's how much current you can pump through it
Don't forget, if you cut the wire a bit too short, its only short on that end.
