soo i think i burnt the 5v regulator cause it has a hole on it but the uno is working fine until i tested a 100k ohm pot and the reading is not reaching fully to 5v it goes to a max 3.62 thx for answering :>
pls somebody answer:<

Can you measure with a multimeter the Vcc of the usb from your computer. It should be passed through a few components to the 5V pin, but it may not be 5v from the computer. The usb 5v may also be getting dragged down by some sort of short produced when you fried the regulator. The p channel mosfet from the usb supply on the way to the 5v pin may also be damaged and not turning on completely.

One other thing to consider is that the pot wiper may not give the full range of what is applied to the pot.
How did you damage the regulator?
EDIT:
Below this topic is a listing of similar topics. You should click on them and read what others found when there was only 3.3v on the 5v pin.
Do you measure AC or DC range?
It is toast, throw it in the trash and get a new one. Or if you are in the UK or Europe then dispose with it according to the WEEE directive.
Once you see a hole in any electronic component it tells you something very catastrophic has happened. The fact that the board appears to have some functionality it is just an illusion, as you have found out.
There is no point in speculating why a certain part is not behaving in a specific way. In other words the Arduino is a FUCT part (Further Use Completely Terminated)
Arduino Uno doesn't use a regulator while powered from USB
I dont have the money i live in africa and there price can go to 100+
No don't worry thats not the hole I'm talking about.
Idk i used the pot i think its the wires i also used a motor cause it has a lower rpm when connected with wires contrary to directly into the 5v pin any tips to find new wires? My budget is really tight so i always find the cheapest components to use.
You need a separate power supply and motor driver board for the motor.
thx
