Why is the J2 connector needed?

Why is the J2 connector needed? It is not soldered on the printed circuit board and is closed on top with a NINA-W102 chip.

For extern antenne use. Same connector as on the left top of this picture?

I agree that the connector J2 is for an external Wi-Fi antenna. But it cannot physically be soldered onto a printed circuit board, since it is closed from above with a NINA chip. In addition, the NINA-W102 chip does not have an ANT output. The datasheet says: “The ANT signal solder pin is not available on the NINA-W102 or NINA-W106 module”.

It turns out that an external antenna cannot be connected to the NINA-W102 chip, then why was the PCB topology made?

Same PCB as with NINA-W101 chip?

I have not seen Arduino Nano RP2040 with NINA-W101 modules. Now NINA-W102 modules are used everywhere. Maybe modules W101 were previously used and the J2 connector remained from the previous version of the PCB - who can tell?
