why there is no Arabic section in Arduino forums!?

I can volunteer for that section to improve Arabian arduino community
There is 480,000,000 can speak Arabic so it will be a good idea! to have more lovers

No arduino sites or community for them just only some groups on facebook ::slight_smile:

Because there hasn't been enough requests for it yet, of course*.
You cross posting about that isn't going to help either.

*See how i tried my best to avoid the word "demand" here ?
There is nothing to demand, you can put in a request, and using the word "please" in it would be a good idea.

Because there hasn't been enough requests for it yet, of course

or maybe because they can't speak English to submit a requests!
there is a Chinese section & it's empty!

I can't delete this post, so it's not from me

I apologize for not being word-perfect in English

Does the forum software correctly render Arabic?

Test

Yup without any problems, no errors

Can you find a dozen like-minded people?

(Obviously, there is no point in having an Arabic section if you are the only one roaming the hallways.)

Yes I can find
480,000,000 of course you can find!

Yes there is a lot

Well we have two so far. Does that constitute "a lot"?

If there were many people replying to the thread, you may have a chance of convincing those that matter.

The problem is most Arabian people can't read English! To respond to this post, you can find them on other Arabian sites...

narzan makes a good point.

I remember when jantje first suggested he wanted a dutch forum - it seemed to be relatively easy to set up. The only difference is that jantje already had hundreds of posts already, so it was believable that he was not going to vanish.

I think the discussion was in this thread: Moderation Guidelines && Applications for Moderators - Website and Forum - Arduino Forum

I do think its something worth giving a shot.

EDIT: I mistook your karma for your post count ... silly me.

just out of interest:
is that really true that most Arabic people (i.e., especially the Arduino programming ones using English-based C coding, and English-based help files etc) can't read English?
IMO programmers are supposed to have Foreign Language Teaching at school by English perhaps as the 1st foreign language?

IMO programmers are supposed to have Foreign Language Teaching at school

There are countries where all students do not learn a foreign language. How many students in the USA learn a foreign language: latest published statistics indicate less than 10% !
However everyone has the right to learn to program an Arduino.
Arduino is not reserved only who understand English, moreover Arduino is not English / American but Colombian / Italian

Is it so difficult to create a sub-forum?
Why not do a test by clearly saying that if in six months the Arab sub-forum does not generate traffic it will be removed?

no, I'm not against this intent - as I wrote, it was just out of interest about Arabic programmers speaking English or not in general.

Yes, but you continue to speak about programmers and not beginners.
Even if the C language use english words, these words are limited in quantity and their learning is easy.
It's much harder to ask a question in English or to understand a 10-page manual written in English.

On the French forum, that I know well  , there are people who make huge programs that work very well, but they are unable to use the English part of the forum.
They are, nevertheless, programmers.
It is the same for all sub-forum (German, Spanish, Dutch, and so on .....).

Yes, but you continue to speak about programmers and not beginners.

yes, a good point, I agree!

A sub-forum is going to need a couple of things for it to work:

  • A number of knowledgeable people who can answer questions. It is not enough to allow people to post questions in language X, you also have to have people that can answer them.
  • At least a couple of people who can moderate. Otherwise you will soon find the sub-forum filled with spam, or insults. Now if you "report to moderator" we can see the post, and maybe use Google Translate to see what it might mean, but some insults are pretty hard to pick up if you do not know the idiom.

I agree a moderator is mandatory, but scandinavia sub-forum has not.

Notice also that Chinese forum has M Banzi as main moderator.
Without double talk, this chinese forum has it been established following a chinese people request or is the result of agreement between M Banzi and Seeed Studio ?

Statistics of localized forum :

For statistics, as all fora were not open at the same time, I chose posts and topics per month.

Considering the number of post and tropic per month, are Chinese , Indian and Scandinavian forum deserve to exist ?

Is it not just for the Dutch and Portuguese forums ?

I don't think it, because the force Arduino is its sub forum.

But beware if Arduino begins to close to new languages for reasons inconsistent with the existence of the Chinese forum, at the same time MBED opens to other languages than English: for now Japanese and Spanish.

If the request had emanated from another language than Arabic I would have said exactly the same.
