Wire driver DRV8825 connection

Hey,

For my final project in medical engineering, i need to connect 2 stepper motors to a 12V 10A power supply. For this connection, I have split terminal which connects directly to the power supplier, each split has V and GND wires which I soldered to a card. From the card I need to connect each V and GND to DRV8825 VMOT and GND pins.

I tried to make these connections with standard wires I got from my college, but they hit very fast and the connection burend. I bought thicker wires, which are supposed to hold this current, but I have a p



roblem connecting them to the DRV8825 pins (photos attached of the thick wires and DRV8825 pins).
Do you have any ideas for me on how to connect them? Can I directly solder the thick wires to the relevant pins?

  • The motor supply lead configuration can be achieved in many ways, show us a good image of the power supply.

  • Google Y cable.

Please post a link to the datasheet of the stepper. There's a risc the 8825 will not manage to give the steppers their full power. Heatsinks and forced cooling might be needed as well.

Yes, but verify your soldering after.
Also, you can simply solder all 3 red positive wires together and 3 black gnd wires together, no board needed.

Why don't you use a CNC shield for your two stepper drivers.
The shield can be plugged directly onto your UNO and the drivers can be plugged into the shield. The shield also has the required supply caps and a single screw terminal for the supply.
