For everyone who has built their own stepper motors controller box...... I bought 0,52 mm2 wire to feed the stepper motors (2 amps). Planning to use that inside the controller-box, max length will be 50 cm. Do you think this will be sufficient, or should I buy other and thicker wire?
It will be OK.
I am assuming each motor has its own feed. For a 2 Amp motor, a 0.52 mm² wire should be adequate for short distances, as its current capacity is slightly above 2 amps. However, if the wire run is long, you may need a thicker wire to minimize voltage drop. For distances over a few meters, a wire with a larger cross-section, such as 0.75 mm² or 1 mm², might be a safer choice to ensure reliable performance.
Thanks, both for answering
Great, will leave it like that then.
For the cable connecting to the controller box, I thought to have ordered 0,75 mm2, but I just checked, and it's 0,34 mm2 (don't know where I went wrong). So will need to change that to the 0,75..... those external cable's will be 2,5 meter max.
- Use stranded wire.
