im having problems getting it to work.
any idea how to wire this thing?
Also, what's the purpose of the 'blue' and 'red' wires you see in the picture above? as i understood they might be the thermostats, so how to wire them and where?
Sorry to ask the obvious do you have a data sheet for the extruder?
Maybe a link to where you bought it. he data sheet should tell you the role each of the wires play and that will lead you to drawing up a schematic and then wiring the extruder.

Most likely, the individual thicker wires (covered in white high-temp insulation weave) - are for the heater of the extruder.
The wires coming out of the singular metal braid loom - are for the thermistor or thermocouple. Though most tend to be a 100K thermister.
There's only the singular thermistor - to monitor the temperature of the head. It is a resistor, that changes resistance based on the heat it senses. The heater hooks up and uses 12 volts DC to heat with. You run it, and monitor the resistance of the thermistor to determine how hot the head is, then turn it off and on (feedback loop) to keep it at a set temperature.
Look into the code for the RAMPS project to see how they do it there, as it is likely that this head could be controlled by a RAMPS board.
Also - it would likely help greatly if you had a real schematic or instruction for the head. But if you don't, or you can't get one - then research the head online - via images or whatnot - however you need to do it. That way, maybe you can find out what other people are doing, and how they are connecting it.
