All Arduinos loading on COM1

Hi,

I am using multiple Arduino Unos (by Elegoo). They are all loading on COM1. In the Device Manager they all show up as "Arduino Uno".

When I go to the port settings, and try to change the port to a higher number, when i click ok, device manager crashes (exits unexpectedly).

I had it search for the latest drivers, and they are all up to date.

Any help?!?

COM1 is the hardware port. You hardly have an Arduino with a serial port, because it has not been produced for several years. If you do not have other ports when you connect the Arduino, then you do not have the necessary drivers and / or have a problem with the connection between the computer and the Arduino.

It may as well be the Intel AMT port, or a bluetooth device, or actually the Ardiuno (since it shows up as "Arduino Uno")

@dgrupp
try this guide - https://docs.arduino.cc/tutorials/generic/DriverInstallation

If you want to change the COM, disconnect the board, enable the "Show hidden devices" in the View menu, then change it before connecting back the Arduino.

@rainyshadow
I tried changing showing hidden devices, then changing the port: Device Manager crashes when i hit OK. Note that Device Manager also crashes when i attempt to change the port with the device connected.

Hi,

When i plug in my arduino Uno, it loads on COM1. When i try to change the com port, the Device Manager crashes!

With the device unplugged, if i open the Device Manager and select Show Hidden Devices, and then try to change the com port, again device manager crashes.

I find very little about this searching the interwebs. Hope someone can help! My project has ground to a halt for days!

This sounds more like a Windows problem or driver issue. Maybe there is something in device manager crashing - Google Search

Yes, could be. But what? I have googled just what you suggested, and no luck. Hence the post :slight_smile:

I have merged your cross-posts @dgrupp.

Cross-posting is against the rules of the forum. The reason is that duplicate posts can waste the time of the people trying to help. Someone might spend 15 minutes (or more) writing a detailed answer on this topic, without knowing that someone else already did the same in the other topic.

Repeated cross-posting can result in a suspension from the forum.

In the future, please take some time to pick the forum category that best suits the subject of your question and then only post once to that forum board. This is basic forum etiquette, as explained in the "How to get the best out of this forum" guide you will find at the top of every forum category. It contains a lot of other useful information.
