can i use (AC/Dc 12V-5A) adapter with ESC and motors ??

hi all i want to use an AC/DC adapter(12V-5A) to suply my ESC(turnigy PULSH 30A) to power my Brushless motor(TURNIGY aerodrive D2846/6 2200KV).
when i supply the ESC is hear the beep but after 1 min The ESC become verry hot
please tell me what is the probleme ? and if you have any suggestion please help :cold_sweat:

this is the ESC that id use :

and this is the Brushless motor

You cannot rely on powering an ESC with just 5A, you should use the correctly sized LiPo
pack for the ESC / motor combination.

The issue is these ESCs and motors pull large currents and current spikes and if the
supply cannot provide enough they will bomb out and reset or report an error condition.

You cannot run an ESC without forced air cooling, think about their normal use!

thanks MarkT for you response
i read something about "BEC" here:

my question is if i can use this to power my ESC ? and if not please what battery you advice me to buy for the esc ?

It seems to be a 34 amp motor. How do you imagine you can drive ith with a 5amp power supply?

Draw a clear diagram of how everything is connected and post a photo of it here.

A BEC is simply a 7805 regulator mounted in the ESC for your convenience
(in an RC model it provides 5V to power the receiver).

Until you know the characteristics of your particular ESC you are best off
getting the right size of LiPo pack for which it was designed. These can
easily generate 20+A spikes should the ESC demand it. Remember RC motors
are very high current devices, the windings are typically a dozen turns or so with
ultra-low resistance. ESCs use ultra-low resistance MOSFETs and usually have
a resistance of a few milli-ohms.

hi Robin2,
i wire normally +12V in red wire of the ESC and black wire of the ESC in ground, ididn't test the motors cause the ESC become too hot after i power it

hi MarkT
it's hard to find battery and charger in my country and i don't wan't that my helicopter to fly (just a simple stabilisation ) this why im looking for alternative :cold_sweat:
any suggestions please ??

That's not what I was enquiring about.

I meant how do you expect to get 34 amps from a 5 amp supply?

12V sealed lead acid deep cycle battery?

MarkT i just Get the idea in the morning, thank you

Robin2 : in the first time i didn't believe that brushless motor work with 30 Ampere
:astonished:

@markT: please tell me why people use 3700 mah battery and they need 30A for each motor ?

I'm not sure exactly what you want to know. If I am not aswering your question properly, please explain more.

Some rechargeable batteries are capable of producing very high currents for short periods. People use them in model aircraft because they need lightweight batteries.

@MarkT: i Undrestand all now for exemple if i have battery 3700 mAh mean that the battery can give me 3.7Amps in one hour or 7.4Amps(3.7*2) in 30 min etc etc ...

sorry my english is not good...
and thanks for all
