Link for TCRT5000 datasheet
Im looking for response time or frequency of TCRT5000 sensor as I want to generate pulse at a minimum frequency of 2.5Hz and a maximum frequency of 2000Hz
If you find the data sheet for MH-sensor series wih TCRT5000 sensor please share
The TCRT5000 is an infrared reflective sensor made with an IR LED and a phototransistor. As the doc does not give timing information nor details on the components, it's probably meaning they don't take a commitment to the exact components being used.
Given the price of the sensor and its usage, you can likely assume that it's not a High-Frequency IR LED (supporting hundreds of megahertz pulses) used in applications like optical data communication or High-Speed Phototransistors (supporting megahertz range).
Common IR LEDs can typically sustain frequencies of several kilohertz and common phototransistors have response times ranging from a few microseconds to a few milliseconds ➜ so you can drive them up to several kilohertz.
I would guess that driving them at 1000 or 2000Hz could be fine as long as your hardware design around the sensor, the Arduino and code you have can handle that pace for whatever you want to drive.
Note that in this product for example TCRT5000 IR Infrared Line Follower Module – TechToast mentions only a 1ms Response Time.
the best way is to try ![]()
Did you see, at the foot of each page in that document:
Have you tried that?
Indeed: Should be fairly easy to do - certainly up to 2kHz!
@yathishhhh - what test equipment do you have available?
