Hi, I developed a logger board based on a ATMEGA328P, powered by battery, with a voltage regulator, an RTC, an SD card and some general connections to the external world (i.e. sensors).
I did not put the FTDI chip on the board, but a connector for an external USB-RS232 converter.
Everythink is working well, but I noticed that when the board goes in Low Power mode, the current consumption is about 25 uA with the FTDI cable connected, that rises to 500 uA when this cable is disconnected.
Someone can explain me why there is a 20 times difference between the two current consumptions?
Thank you in advance
Someone might be able to help if you follow the forum rules and post the code, using code tags, along with a complete schematic diagram of the board, with all parts, pins and connections clearly labeled.
Also mention how you measured the current consumption in the two wiring configurations.
