Displaying digital caliper readout remotely

I am new to Arduino but would like to remotely read and display the out put from a Chinese digital caliper.

All I need is to have a self contained unit that will display the read out of a single caliper. using a display connected directly to the Arduino.

Is there an Arduino project for this?
