Error Message On Mac OS X

Hey. I just got my Arduino Uno. I downloaded the Arduino IDE onto my Mac and when I try and run a sketch I get the error message: avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

I was able to replicate this error by removing the atmega 328 and reversing the direction of the chip.

Gently pry the chip out out of its seat rotate 180 and replace.

What serial port are you selecting in the Serial Port menu? (Hint, "bluetooth" is not correct).

Please do not suggest this.
